WINTER IS ON ITS WAY OUT! This means spring break, warmer weather, andpool season (for Houston at least) is around the corner. Houstonians love the water as we are surrounded by beautiful lakes, bayous and just a short drive from Galveston.
But did you know Houston is also knownfor having some of the most amazing custom pools in the country? Hold on, put your swim bag down and take off those ridiculous goggles indoors—you likely won’t be swimming at these pools unless you can look out of your window and see one of them.
That’s because sadly, these custom pools in Houston are not open to the public for just anybody to enjoy. Some are at very high-end exclusivehotels that cost hundreds of dollars a night, or at posh high-rise lofts in downtown—with very tight security.
Even though you may never get the chance to experience these pools it’s at least fun to marvel at their design and features and dream of one day getting lucky enough to experience them—without getting fined for trespassingthat is.
The Hot List Of Custom Pools In Houston
Marriott Marquis Houston
- Location:1777 Walker St, Houston, TX 77010
- Accessibility: Registered hotel guests only. Rooms average over $250.00 a night.
Definitely, one of the most unique poolsand a new icon for Houston— the pool at the new Marriot Marquis hotel is unabashedly braggadocios tosay the least. Perched upon the lower level terrace of this swank high-rise hotel in Downtown Houston, this massive resort-style pool’s trademark is it’s larger-than-life, Texas shaped lazy river. However, unless you have anywhere from $250.00 (low-season) to $475.00 (peak-season) per night to spend on a room—you’ll only experience this pool on Google Maps. Access is only for registered guests per room, and a wristband is required for entry, so good luck trying to sneak in behind someone. In addition to the already ambitious lazy river, there is an infinity pool, several private cabanas, and tons of poolside chaises and other seating.
Market Square Tower
- Location: 777 Preston St, Houston, TX 77002
- Accessibility: For residents only. Average 2BR/2BA apartment goes for an average of $5,000 a month. You may get in if you know someone who lives there and invites you as a guest which requires a form and ID—talk about strict security!
When we say this pool is exclusive, we mean that in every sense of the word. Dangling from the rooftop of the luxury high rise apartment building, Market Square Tower—You will not sneak into this pool without serious consequences, so don’t even try. Security clearly makes it clear that property management will press charges for any and all trespassers—that’s a misdemeanor y’all. Why would someone risk a misdemeanor to get into a pool? Maybe because it’s not just any pool, it’s a unique “sky pool.”This glass-bottomedinfinity pool is cantilevered to hang over the rooftop edge at over 500ft in the air! Those with fear of heights—this is not the pool you are looking for. But if you’re adventurous, don’t mind a rap sheet and a fine—this is the pool for you. We say it’s just not worth it.
Futuristic Smart Home Estate
- Location:3 W Rivercrest Dr.Houston, TX 77042
- Accessibility:None, unless you are the new owner now that this loaded home sold a couple of weeks ago.
With a price tag of over $10 million, this ultra-modern custom built homejust closed a few weeks ago and became the most expensive home sale since 2016. What does the lucky owner get for $10 million? Well, while we’re all about the pool here we are still quite impressed with the rest of the estate. It’s not just about the 8 bedrooms, 5 ½ baths, home theater, professional chef kitchen, two-story guest house, andfitness center—it’s the smart home aspect…and of course—the pool!
It’s about the fact that this is a truesmart home built with such intentions from the ground up. A Crestron system controls the entire house from HVAC to home theater and even the curtains. Let’s focus on this beautiful pool though!
At an amazingly huge 60,000 gallons (most residentials are about 20,000 gallons) this pool with a grotto is connected to a resort level spa on a huge 3.5-acreparcel of land near Westchase. It makes sense since the designer who built the home in 2017 intended to evoke the trappings of a boutique hotel such as Zaza but with a high-techtwist. It’s so exclusive (and reclusive) we don’t even have a picture of it we can show you, we stumbled across the open house while working on a pool nearby. But believe us, it is a sight to behold.
